With traditional dial-up methods, the text and graphics that make up web pages get sent from the server to you over your phone line. Because of the large amount of data required to be sent, this process can be painfully slow. World Verge's Web Accelerator compresses this data using a proprietary technology, and sends it over your existing dialup phone line. This compression process allows a smaller amount of data to be sent – up to six times less – making the download time of your web pages and your online experience that much faster. Most web filters have a very large list of bad sites. If you try to go to these sites you will get blocked, which means your web access is filtered by web address. However, the web changes at an incredible pace, and even large web search engines such as Google or Yahoo don't even know half of what is available on the web each day. This makes filtering by web address (URL) difficult as sites change and new ones come up all the time. It is impossible to have comprehensive filtering using just URLs. What is needed is something to check every page you (or your children) ever access for 'bad' subjects such as drugs, profanities, hate, pornography, etc, and disallow it if it's not suitable. This is called 'Content Filtering'.

World Verge's Family Filter uses technology by DansGuardian to filter the actual content of pages, not just the URL address and does not filter based only on a banned list of sites like other filters.  The Family Filter chooses which pages to disallow based on many methods including phrase matching, PICS filtering and URL filtering. The World Verge Family Filter is a true web content filter.
